French Toast Casserole

One of our readers was nice enough to share their tried and true french toast casserole recipe with us. This sounds tasty!

She suggests serving with sausage or bacon, coffee and juice.

½ cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 Tbs dark corn syrup
1 loaf of good French Bread, cut in to thick slices
5 eggs
1 ½ cup milk
2 tsp vanilla
pinch of nutmeg

Cook butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup until sugar is dissolved; pour into a 13” x 9” pan. Layer bread pieces on top of syrup mixture. In a bowl mix eggs, milk, vanilla, and nutmeg. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake uncovered at 350 for 45 minutes
Serves 6-8
